Mother's Day and the lawnmower

It's the weekend, and I was trying to be woke up by a pesty 3 and a half year old. I won. 10:30AM I roll off the couch. It seems that as I was 'chillin' on the couch last night, I dozed off. I'm up just in time to find out that Mom and Daughter are getting ready to go to Mamoo's house down the street to plant flowers as a Mother's Day gift. Being the wonderful Daddy that I am, I head out with them. No shower, no hair brushing. Just grab a hat and head out. As a side note, hats are great when you are lazy and don't want to try and fix the mop of hair you wake up with. Anyhow...

Follow up:

We arrive at my Mom's house in like 1 minute. There's a guy working on the upstairs portion of the house, on the overhanging room upstairs. Oh, crap, guess I should say my mom lives in a house that is divided into 3 apartments. She's in the bottom one, and since she's getting older that means no stairs and parking right outside of the door to her place. So, this guy that's working has crap all over the place. Wood pieces, tools, power saws, drills, all that good stuff. We figure hell with it and grab all the crap that will be planted, the shovel, gardening tools, etc. Tazzee gets to work on getting the weeds and unwanted plants out. The plants had taken root in an area where there were bricks with a 4x4 over the top of them. The plants proceeded to sprout and over the years had pushed the bricks out at an angle. I grabbed my mom's murderous looking kitchen knife and let the wife go to town hacking away. In the end, the knife is scratched up like you wouldn't believe. That wasn't one of my better plans, but I blame Tazzee for actually using my suggestion.

Ok, now we're a the point of having dirt, wood chips, weeds, partial pieces of hacked up plant (which Taz says are Yucca plants) laying all over. Garbage bags are administered and the mess is cleaned up. Guess I forgot to mention the small stump protruding from the area that needs to go. Well, yeah, I did. It's now a larger stump since I dug out around it and the roots I believe protrude down at least 392 feet, approximated. I'll need to borrow the father-in-law's electric chainsaw and hack it down some and fill it back with dirt. It's dead, just all over the place in there. That will be a story for another day I am sure.

Now I am thinking we'll be planting soon, but no wait! That was just cleaning up that area, we will be planting where these 3 huge yucca plants are instead. OK, no problem. I grab the shovel and dig those bad boys out. I just chucked them over into the next section and they filled in the bare spots nicely. Knowing my luck, they will insta-root and I'll have to dig them out again. The guy working on the upper section then mentions to me how careful he was around the plants. The same plants I just dug up and chucked aside. That's ok, he gets paid by the hour I am sure. :D
